Ways To Give

Bequests

Paul and Judy have been supportive of the ministry over the years but wanted to include Church Extension in their ultimate plans to be sure the support continued.  They knew they could include the ministry in their wills with a specific amount or the percentage method.  They were careful to work with their attorney and to use the legal name of Board of Church Extension of Disciples of Christ, Inc.  They wanted to support the Manna Fund to help Church Extension continue with the needed research and development of new services.  Anyone who notifies Church Extension that they have included the ministry in their estate planning will be invited to be a member of the growing Heritage Society.

Charitable Gift Annuity

Janet and Jerry were 66 and 69 respectively and really liked the rates available to them when they considered a Charitable Gift Annuity that would ultimately benefit Church Extension.  They knew they might have tax advantages and could consider using some highly appreciated stock that they held as well.  Plus, they knew that they could not only achieve life time payments but ultimately help Church Extension's ministry as well. Janet and Jerry set up the gift to ultimately support the Interest Free Loan Fund.  So, the couple knew they had to work closely with Church Extension staff to fund their Charitable Gift Annuity.

Gift Agreements

Louis and Loice Nelson started the first Gift Agreement to help provide for income to the Disciples Mission Fund of the whole church, growth back to the fund and to provide outreach funds to their local congregation.  They added to it as they could and knew that the entire time the Agreement was growing and making distributions, it was invested in Church Extension investments that resourced loans to Disciples congregations.  Louis stated, "This formula for distribution of the earnings on our Gift Agreement allows for both growth to the fund and outreach globally and locally.  The Agreement demonstrates you do not have to have 'big' money to help others." The Nelsons knew they had to work closely with Church Extension staff to set up this arrangement.

Transfer of Stock

Lloyd likes to transfer his highly appreciated stock to Church Extension each year to add to his wife's fund in support of New Church starts.  He knows the process is easy with Church Extension and he appreciates what the gifts are doing to help start more new congregations.  He knows he has options to help start new churches through the New Church Ministry Fund, Interest Free Loan Fund or Site Acquisition Fund.
