Architectural Consultation

	Architectural Consultation Sometimes congregations face questions and issues with their building that require the expertise of an architect. At the same time church leaders may feel that it is premature to establish a long-term relationship with a local architect. In these situations Church Extension's special Architectural Consultation may be the best solution.

What Is It?

An Architectural Consultation is an advisory service provided by experienced church architects selected by Church Extension. It is designed to help congregations resolve specific problems and explore ideas related to:

• Facilities accessibility and usage,
• Remodeling and renovations advisability, and
• Site development.

Who Should Attend?

Participants should be:

• Church leaders serving on the evaluation and planning team, and
• The church architect scheduled through Church Extension.

When Should This Consultation Take Place?

An architectural consultation is most helpful:

• When held within 12 months of a General Consultation (a prerequisite),
• After the congregation has completed a study of its mission and ministry program requirements,
• After placing in written form a copy of the congregation's common understanding of its mission, and
• Prior to contact with a local architect.

How Much Will It Cost?

The per diem cost of this service is $850.00 plus travel expense for the architect. The Architectural Consultation is provided to congregations of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) on the basis of a per diem fee and travel costs.

How Do We Schedule A Consultation?

To arrange an Architectural Consultation:

• The official board takes formal action requesting an architectural consultation from Church Extension,
• An officer of the congregation's governing body completes the "Request" form at the web site or by paper copy.

A consultant from Church Extension will contact the congregation to schedule the consultation. Visits normally take place within 90 days after the request is received.
