Sacred Space Consultation The worship space in a church is one of the most important areas for the membership. It is here that congregations experience community. At times church leaders are aware that this sacred space can be improved to deepen the spiritual experience of worship for participants, but are limited by the way "it has always been." In these situations Church Extension's special Sacred Space Consultation may be the best solution.

What Is It?

A Sacred Space Consultation is an advisory service by a professional liturgical design consultant selected by Church Extension. It is designed to help a congregation address specific problems and explore ideas related to enhancing the arrangement and furnishings of their worship space.

Who Should Attend?

Participants should be:

• Church leaders serving on the planning team, and
• The church design consultant scheduled through Church Extension.

When Should This Consultation Take Place?

An sacred space consultation is most helpful:

• When held within 12 months of a General Consultation (a prerequisite), and
• After the congregation has completed a study of its mission and ministry program requirements.

How Much Will It Cost?

The Sacred Space Consultation is provided to congregations of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) on a per diem fee basis of $850.00 plus travel expense for the architect.

How Do We Schedule A Consultation?

To arrange a Sacred Space Consultation:

• The official board takes formal action requesting an architectural consultation from Church Extension, and
• An officer of the congregation's governing body completes the "Request" form at this web site or by paper copy.

A representative from Church Extension will contact the congregation to schedule the consultation. Visits normally take place within 90 days after the request is received.
